Bowflex Barbie's Top 5 Meal Prep Tips

Meal Prep is something we all have probably heard is the "key" to following a nutrition guide. If you've got a busy schedule or have trouble cooking and sticking to your healthy meals daily , then meal prep is definitely something you should consider adding to your regimen and mastering.

Meal prep however, can be a bit of a struggle, especially if you tend to get bored with food like I do, and if you simply don't have a whole lot of time to dedicate to prepping but depending on your meals and goals your prep variety and duration will differ. There are many hacks for a successful meal prep but below are my top 5 tips.

1. Make A Plan:

Do some research on menus/recipes that you’d like to incorporate into your meals for that week. I usually choose 3 meats and 2 veggies that I want for that week and then research interesting meals that I can make ( that still fit my goals)

2. Stick To The Foods On Your Shopping List:

This is always a tough one for me, I often find myself throwing one or two extra things in my cart, like “snacks” and just things I don’t need. Once you make your thorough list based on your menus and recipes that you’ve gathered, make sure you stick to that list !

3. Cook Your food in bulk:

This is actually probably my favorite, because it saves so much time. I usually bake my sweet potatoes, veggies and chicken all at once, while my jasmine rice is boiling and my ground turkey meatballs are simmering on the stovetop. Some people also prep salads in mason jars and smoothies ( so everything is pre-cut and ready to go) . These methods save a whole lot of time and hassle.

4. Invest In Meal Prep Containers And Tupperware:

Once you’ve cooked your food in bulk, you’ll need to portion and refrigerate your meals for the next few days. Make sure you invest in smaller containers for snacks as well so you can have everything set and ready to grab when needed. I also recommend meal prep bags for those who are on-the-go rather than at an office or place they can store their containers until they are ready to eat, the meal prep bag allows the foods to stay at the correct temperature as they are heavily insulated and most have compartments suitable for tupperware as well. One of my favorites is the 6pack bag but there are many other great brands as well.

5. Remember Your Goal :

Whatever your goal may be; building lean muscle, reducing body fat, becoming more fit, or just spending less money on fast food and eating out. Keep that in mind when you’re prepping and enjoying those meals, and especially when it gets hard and you’re tempted to skip out on a prep session, or “just not feeling “ like eating the meal in the tupperware y
